Welcome to the celebration of Advent at Three Rivers Community Presbyterian Church!

We’re excited to share with you our chosen Advent series this year – The Will to Dream, created and written by the wonderful folks at Illustrated Ministry, LLC – https://www.illustratedministry.com/ :

“In this time of upheaval, we find trust is fragile, truth contested, and spaces between us feel harder to cross. Divisions stretch far and wide. The constant churn of political tension leaves many feeling anxious and uncertain. Community feels strained, and connection is harder to come by. Hearts are weary, and souls unsettled, and people of all perspectives are searching-not just for answers, but for understanding, healing, and hope. This ache is not weakness; it is a holy longing-a sacred desire for a world made whole. From this longing comes the will to dream-a persistent courage to imagine, resist, and rebuild a better world. The Will to Dream invites your community into an Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany season rooted in prophetic imagination-a theological framework powerfully explored by the late theologian and biblical scholar Walter Brueggemann-in the sacred practice to see beyond what is and move toward what could be. This series provides tools to help communities confront despair, embody justice, and claim hope as a radical act. From Isaiah’s vision to Mary’s song, communities will find themselves in the story-and begin to dream not as escape, but as spiritual resistance.”

Join us for each Sunday of Advent through Epiphany (Nov. 30 – Jan. 4), as we explore themes of Vigilant Hope, Prophetic Peace, Unexpected Joy, Merciful Love, Embodied Promise, Generational Praise, and Courageous Defiance. Services begin at 10:30 am. You are welcome to join us in person – 43410 Sierra Drive –  or through our YouTube Channel: Three Rivers Community Presbyterian Church, @3rpresbyterian.

*A note for parents: We have a wonderful children’s area set up in the back of the Sanctuary with coloring pages, small crafts, toys, and books. Everything a kiddo needs to stay engaged during worship! And don’t worry if they make a little noise – we know kiddos like to wiggle and move and make joyful noises to the Lord!

And don’t forget to stop by or email the office for your own Advent devotional!

We are also excited to offer several fellowship events and times to connect with us after our worship services during Advent. All events will take place on the church campus at Harrison Fellowship Hall (with the exception of the Blue Christmas and Christmas Eve Services – which will take place in the Sanctuary).  All activities are for ALL AGES, EVERYONE IS WELCOME, and we will have a children’s area set up with coloring and small crafts during each event.

Sunday, December 21 – Blue Christmas Service – 6:00 PM

What is a blue Christmas service? It is a worship service that names and holds space for the sadness that accompanies the holidays. Heightened by the advertising of our consumerist culture and the grief we may feel for the loved ones we have lost, there is a definite Christmas ideal that includes neatly iced gingerbread houses, smiling children, an excessive amount of neatly wrapped packages, and a pressure to push our own grief out of the way and appear happy for the holidays. These standards and the church’s sometimes solitary focus on joy can make the holidays an isolating time for anyone who can’t muster happiness or meet the criteria. A blue Christmas service is an invitation for anyone who wants to come and set their burden down, for a community to hold pain collectively and truly accept and hold space for one another in our sadness, pain, and overwhelm during this holiday season.

Looking for that special time to celebrate and reflect on the Hope that came into the world through the baby Jesus? And wondering what it all means for us today? Join us for our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. And, for a time, leave all of your stress outside the church doors and come in to have your spirit filled and renewed.
